American jazz keyboardist, specialising in the Hammond B3 organ. [b]Not to be confused with [a15438][/b] Born 3 July 1942 in Lackawanna, New York, USA. Died 28 September 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Smith (later self-styled as Dr. Lonnie Smith) is known for his prowess on the Hammond B3 organ. He used to tour extensively and has played alongside many of the world’s jazz and R&B greats including [a64694], [a236212], [a95088], [a29958], [a29962], [a129731], [a259076], [a181208], [a44131], [a135244], [a113673], [a89660], [a86339], [a227036] and [a136172] and others.
