Joni Haastrup - Wake Up Your Mind

Nigerian vocalist and bandleader. Son of a Yoruban king began his musical journey performing for his brother's band [b]Sneakers[/b] and was quickly snapped up as a vocalist for [a161003]'s 1966 "[i]Super Afro Soul[/i]" album. By the ’70s was known as “Soul Brother Number One,” a star on the West African music scene. In 1971, he was handpicked by [a219243] for tour Europe as part of the Air Force band and further shows as part of the [b]SALT[/b] project. Returning to Nigeria formed group [b]MonoMono[/b]. Back in London in 1978 recorded his solo album.
