Size - El Diablo En El Cuerpo (7", Blue Vinyl)

Mexican post-punk and new wave/synth pop band active from 1979 to 1985, formed by two members of RIO (Rock In Opposition) band [a204112], [a=Carlos Robledo] (This Grace) and [a=Walter Schmidt (3)] (Dennys Sanborns), who met [a=Illy Bleeding] through [a=Dangerous Rhythm (2)] acquaintances. Then [a=Dean Stylette] joined. Their first gig together was an improvisation at the New Orleans nightclub in Mexico City. The band started with a punk style influenced by Illy's looks and presence during shows at "hoyos fonkis" (live music underground venues during rock genre censorship and repression in Mexico), gradually adopting synthesizers, glam gimmicks and new romantic themes, with lyrics both in Spanish and English. They performed live with female dancers and backing singers known as 'Go-Go Girls' (one of them, [a=Ulalume], continuously toured with them and years later founded [a=Casino Shanghai] with Carlos, Walter and [a=Humberto Alvarez]). A fifth member, Carlos Warman, later joined the group before disbandment. After drummer Alfonso left, they continued to perform briefly as Garrobos. Even though there's not much released material mainly due to various contract, production and promotion issues throughout their career, the band has been claimed as pioneer and very influential for Mexican rock scene, both pop and underground. A documentary film made in 2012, 'Nadie Puede Vivir con un Monstruo', directed and produced by [a=Mario Mendoza (3)], depicts the origins, essence, problems and deep influence of the band. Allegedly, the band's name came from [a125107]'s song 'Size', included in the [m149570] compilation produced by [a=Brian Eno]. The band's logo was designed by [a=Mateo Lafontaine].
